半導體與顯示器設備大廠美商應用材料看好顯示器產業未來發展，昨（17）日於南科舉行台南製造中心新廠興建工程的動土典禮。這是應材在台的第2座顯示器設備製造中心，占地5.1公頃，投資規模超過30億元，以因應客戶對10代以上面板生產設備、以及OLED設備的高度需求。
應材資深副總裁暨新市場與服務事業群總經理阿里?沙勒普爾（Ali Salehpour）指出，人們比之前更加仰賴以視覺為主的資訊，也為顯示器技術開拓各種應用，從電視、行動裝置，到自駕車、擴增與虛擬實境，愈來愈多新商機。擴建南科的製造中心得以持續配合客戶的腳步，協助開發更多的顯示器創新。
應材集團副總裁暨台灣區總裁余定陸表示，興建第2座顯示器設備製造中心，可以與公司在南科的顯示器研發實驗室與製造中心相互搭配，再次強化應材對投資台灣市場的承諾。
由於60吋以上的大尺寸電視市場快速成長，再加上OLED面板在智慧型手機的應用增長，新一代行動裝置螢幕市場競爭激烈，新世代生產線投資提高了對應材各種顯示器設備的需求。現有的台南製造中心產能已達滿載，興建新廠勢在必行。
科技部政務次長蘇芳慶指出，南科是南台灣重要的半導體和光電生產聚落，年產值高達2.37兆元，而應材、康寧、3M、住華等外商累計投資額達到249億元。台灣擁有豐沛的人才、優越的製造能力，政府重視智財權保護，期許應材與國內大學有更密切的產學合作。經濟部常務次長王美花表示，感謝應材持續在台灣擴展製造中心，證明了台灣顯示器產業製造力再度受國際大廠肯定，希望應善用台灣的資源與優勢，帶動台灣上下游產業鏈，協助產業鏈轉型升級共創雙贏。
